Provided by AGPIsraeli warplanes targeted an inhabited home in the southern Lebanese town of Kfar Dounine on Monday, killing at least six people and wounding seven others, Lebanon's state-run media reported.
Dhaka paired its condemnation with a renewed call for maximum restraint and strict compliance with international humanitarian law, as civilian casualties continue to mount across the region.
"Bangladesh condemns in the strongest possible terms the heinous attack by Israeli forces in Southern Lebanon yesterday, which resulted in the tragic killing of two Bangladeshi nationals," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The two victims have been identified as Shafiqul Islam and Md. Nahidul Islam Nahid, both residents of Bangladesh's southeastern Satkhira district. The Bangladesh Embassy in Lebanon is currently coordinating with local authorities to complete the formalities required for repatriating their remains.
The broader human toll of Israel's campaign in Lebanon is staggering. Since March 2, Israeli strikes have killed more than 2,840 people, wounded upwards of 8,690 others, and displaced over 1.6 million residents — roughly one-fifth of the country's entire population — according to Lebanese officials.
The strikes continue unabated despite a ceasefire announced on April 17 and subsequently extended through May 17, with the Israeli army pressing ahead with daily bombardments across Lebanese territory.
