Musk, Top CEOs Board Air Force One as Trump Heads to Beijing
(MENAFN) Tesla chief Elon Musk is among a high-powered roster of American business titans aboard Air Force One as President Donald Trump makes his way to Beijing for a landmark summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Fox News host Sean Hannity is also traveling with the presidential delegation. Notably, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang — absent from the original guest manifest — joined the flight as an eleventh-hour addition, boarding during a refueling stop in Anchorage, Alaska, according to a White House pool report. Trump subsequently confirmed Huang's presence in a Truth Social post.
The president publicly named a sweeping lineup of corporate heavyweights accompanying him on the state visit, including Apple's Tim Cook, BlackRock's Larry Fink, Blackstone's Stephen Schwarzman, Boeing's Kelly Ortberg, Cargill's Brian Sikes, Citigroup's Jane Fraser, GE Aerospace's Larry Culp, Goldman Sachs' David Solomon, Micron's Sanjay Mehrotra, and Qualcomm's Cristiano Amon.
Trump declared he would make his "very first request" to President Xi to "open up" China to American business, adding: "I have never seen or heard of any idea that would be more beneficial to our incredible Countries."
The three-day visit — running May 13–15 — marks the first trip by a sitting US president to China since 2017, having been originally slated for April before being deferred amid the US-Israeli war against Iran.
Trade, Taiwan, the Iran war, and artificial intelligence are projected to headline the agenda, with negotiators from both governments having spent months hammering out the groundwork for the high-stakes meeting.
Trump first floated the China visit during his face-to-face with Xi at the Busan summit in South Korea on October 30th. Beijing has signaled Taiwan policy will be its foremost priority at the table, while Trump is expected to press for concrete trade breakthroughs and progress on closing the Strait of Hormuz.
