Doctors Without Borders calls on RSF to let civilians leave El-Fasher
“We urgently call on the RSF and allied armed groups to spare civilians and let them flee El Fasher,” Michel Olivier Lacharite, MSF’s head of emergencies, said in a statement shared on X. He also urged the US, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Egypt to use their influence “to stop the bloodbath” in the city.
MSF said it is closely monitoring conditions in El-Fasher and warned that the international community “cannot look away” as the crisis deepens.
On October 26, the RSF seized control of El-Fasher and carried out massacres against civilians, according to local and international organizations, with warnings that the assault could further entrench Sudan’s geographical divisions.
Since April 15, 2023, the Sudanese army and the RSF have been engaged in a conflict that regional and international mediation efforts have failed to resolve. The war has reportedly killed around 20,000 people and displaced more than 15 million, both as refugees and internally displaced persons.
