Tragic Bomb Blast in India Kills Thirteen-Year-Old Girl

(MENAFN) A tragic incident in West Bengal claimed the life of a 13-year-old girl on Monday after an explosive device detonated in the Nadia district, police confirmed.

The child sustained critical injuries when a bomb exploded in Barochandgar, a locality within the Kaliganj police jurisdiction, approximately 174 kilometers from Kolkata, the state’s capital.
Authorities said the girl was struck by shrapnel from the blast.

Despite being swiftly transported to a nearby hospital, doctors declared her dead upon arrival.
According to initial accounts, the girl was returning home when fragments from a bomb—allegedly thrown at a private residence—struck her.

West Bengal's Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee voiced her sorrow over the incident and assured the public that justice will be pursued. The police will deal firmly with those responsible, she stated.
