Japan Supports Israel, Iran Ceasefire
According to a Tokyo-based news agency, Japanese officials conveyed a "strong hope" that this agreement will be thoroughly upheld.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi emphasized that Japan will keep a close watch on how the situation develops in the Middle East.
He affirmed that Tokyo is prepared to make "all diplomatic efforts possible" to help secure peace and maintain regional stability.
“We will continue to monitor further developments with high interest,” Hayashi said to the press, underlining that swiftly calming the escalating conflict is “of utmost importance.”
President Trump had revealed on Monday that both Israel and Iran had agreed to a "complete and total" cessation of hostilities amid mounting tensions in the region.
This ceasefire follows a significant escalation after Iran fired multiple missiles at the American Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar on Monday.
The missile strike came in response to US attacks a day earlier targeting three Iranian nuclear facilities.
These recent military actions are part of an intensifying campaign involving Israeli forces, supported by the US, which has been ongoing since June 13.
In retaliation, Iran has launched a series of strikes on Israeli territory.
Israeli officials reported that at least 25 individuals have lost their lives, and many others have been wounded, as a result of Iran’s missile assaults.
