Zelenskyy Condemns “Insane” Russian Missile Attack
The missile attack struck a lyceum located in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, a town in the southern Odesa region.
The strike resulted in the deaths of at least two staff members, with concerns that others may still be trapped beneath the debris.
Preliminary information indicates the attack involved a ballistic missile. While students were not present due to the summer vacation, several members of the lyceum's staff were inside the facility when it was hit, according to a Telegram post by Odesa Governor Oleh Kiper.
Zelenskyy noted in a message shared on X that “the lyceum is practically completely destroyed,” and that a full-scale emergency response effort is in progress.
He emphasized that emergency personnel had been entirely mobilized to deal with the aftermath.
The Ukrainian leader insisted that such Russian assaults are deliberate rather than accidental.
“None of these Russian strikes are accidental — the Russian army knows exactly where it is targeting. These are demonstration strikes,” he stated, implying that civilian infrastructure is being purposefully targeted.
Zelenskyy also urged the global community to adopt firmer measures against Moscow.
He cautioned that if Russia is not compelled to seek peace, the threat could extend beyond Ukraine, placing other European nations at risk.
“If Russia is not forced to make peace, we will have to think about protecting high schools, hospitals, and ordinary residential buildings in other European countries — everywhere that Russian killers can hit,” he warned.
He concluded with a plea for global action, stressing the need to halt the violence.
“We must stop the killings and attacks. We must put pressure on Russia.”
