Russia Eyes Date for Third Round of Ukraine Talks
“We expect that some estimates will be made this week for the third round,” Peskov told reporters in Moscow, emphasizing that pinpointing the exact timing remains “difficult to guess,” but he suggested a clearer timeline could emerge before early July.
The initial two rounds of direct peace discussions between Russia and Ukraine took place in Istanbul on May 16 and June 2.
Russian officials have reported that during these talks, both parties exchanged draft proposals for a potential peace agreement and concurred on exchanging severely injured prisoners of war, alongside the repatriation of fallen soldiers’ remains.
In line with this agreement, Russia confirmed it had returned approximately 6,000 bodies of Ukrainian soldiers.
President Vladimir Putin had earlier indicated that the date for the upcoming round of talks would probably be finalized after June 22.
