Kyiv Gets Targeted by Overnight Airstrike
“Twenty-two people were injured in the enemy's night attack on the capital. Currently, 12 of them are in city hospitals. The rest were treated by doctors on the spot. At this time, six people have been confirmed dead,” stated Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko through a message on Telegram.
He indicated that the attack caused serious destruction to a five-floor residential structure in the Shevchenkivskyi neighborhood of the city. He also mentioned that emergency personnel were still carrying out search and recovery efforts at the location.
Klitschko added that the force of the explosion also harmed apartments in a nearby 25-story high-rise.
Additionally, he remarked that there were reports of destruction to commercial properties and privately-owned homes in several districts of Kyiv, including Solomianskyi, Darnytskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Podilskyi, and Holosiivskyi.
“After the strikes on Iran's nuclear program facilities, there was a lot of uproar from Moscow — the Russian leadership performatively condemned the ‘missile-and-bomb’ actions.
“Today, Moscow is silent after the Russian army carried out a completely cynical strike using Russian-Iranian Shahed drones and missiles against civilian infrastructure in Kyiv and other cities and communities of ours,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed on X in response to the incident.
