UK Faces Criticism Over Government Website Redesign
The redesign, carried out by international marketing firm M&C Saatchi, resulted in the site’s black header being altered to blue.
In addition, the logo experienced subtle alterations — the dot in “gov.uk” was repositioned and changed to a turquoise shade.
The high cost of what many see as insignificant changes has drawn strong condemnation from multiple critics.
Detractors argue that public funds have been carelessly used and that the government has not adhered to its own publicized agenda of increased fiscal responsibility.
Zia Yusuf, who leads Reform UK’s newly established efficiency division, labeled the redesign a “joke.”
“The disrespect for taxpayers’ money continues to be astounding. Spending more than EURO500,000 on changing a logo on a government website is a joke at the taxpayer’s expense, quite literally,” he remarked, asserting that this questionable expenditure “is just the kind of thing we have been uncovering in county halls on a daily basis.”
